What is a garter belt?

A garter belt is the ultimate in vintage-style lingerie sophistication. An elegant throwback piece, a garter belt or suspender belt is a piece of lace lingerie which was traditionally used to hold up stockings or pantyhose with clips or snaps. A garter or suspender belt will usually sit up on the hips to keep your stockings comfortably in place, or alternatively attach to a thigh garter to compliment a lingerie set. How can I wear a garter belt?

Garter belts are the finishing touch to your lingerie attire, typically worn over your underwear. Usually you would wear a suspender belt with thigh-high or (often called) "stay up" stockings which do not sit above the mid thigh level. Can I wear a garter belt without stockings?

Yes! Garter belts are often confused with a thigh or wedding garter which is an elastic lace belt which wraps around the upper thigh. That said, you can pair a garter belt with a thigh garter if you prefer a more modern lingerie look without stockings.
